Roland Tate MA (Cantab) FCSI
Roland is an experienced practicing Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute having been involved in over 110 corporate finance transactions over the last 30 years. He was for several years a director of Tyman plc (previously Lupus Capital plc) during which time the company grew from sales of £6m to £250m and raised over £330m from institutional investors. He formed his own corporate finance house in January 2005 following 9 years in “Big 4” corporate finance, 4 years as Corporate Finance Director. Prior to this, he spent 5 years as a venture capitalist and was a director of several VC backed companies; then CEO of an IP commercialisation company raising and managing a technology seed fund when he was responsible for concluding some 20 corporate license agreements.
Roland also worked in the oil, gas and chemicals industry in production and commercial positions with BP plc. In 2008 he formed an informal HNWI ‘fund’ with Bryan Sanderson CBE and other HNWIs to invest in the equity gap and has since led several Syndicates in transactions in early stage technology businesses. His contact base spans venture capitalists, bankers, brokers, shell sponsors, directors of large and small corporates and a host of other professionals and entrepreneurs. Roland has been instrumental in raising c£400k for CBS from start-up. He is an FSA Approved Person for Corporate Finance Controlled Functions and is a non-executive director at venture capital provider Rivers Capital.
